what is the punishment for credit card theft?

Jacob K asked:

16 year old. on 6 month probation for petty larson. what would a court sentence someone who isn’t me for using stolen credit cards.. two seperate cards from the same person, with the amount being spent is over $1000. other people were with someone who isn’t me when someone who isn’t me purchased items with the stolen credit cards. they were actual debit cards, but the purchases were made on credit.

      Create a video blog…instantly.

Over $1000 is a class 5 felony, which can be up to 30 months in prison and up to $150,000 in fines.

Debit or credit doesn’t matter, it was still theft.

You don’t say, but I’m assuming these are the cards from the petty theft charge? If so, to charge for the other felonies would require proof that you used them. If you can prove it wasn’t you, then you need to produce the proof that you have to officers. Your only way out is to dime out this “other person”, it’s your life or his/hers. Depending on your record you could be looking at jail time for False Pretense, identity theft etc., for each use of the card separate from the others.

Your “other people” better step up for you before you go down.
